Welcome to the Apex Australia Teenage Fashion
Awards 2008 website.

The Apex Australia Teenage Fashion Awards (AATFA) hasbeen an annual event for
Apex Australia over the past 17 years. In conjunction with secondary schools
throughout Australia, Apex provides students with the opportunity to design,
manufacture and model their own fashiongarments.
AATFA is a unique opportunity for students
interested in the fashion or design industries to demonstrate their skill and flair
through a friendly competition. The Awards are an extraordinary co-curricular
activity, which offers students the opportunity and encouragement to explore their
creativ
ity in the fields of fashion, design and textiles.
To some participants, AATFA is a boost to their
confidence and self-esteem, as well as providing inspiration and the chance to grow.
To others, it has been a stepping-stone into the world of fashion and design.
AATFA is open to all schools, both private and government
throughout Australia. In previous years individual state competitions have attracted more than
200 entrants. Secondary schools are invited to be apart of this years competition now!

The competition comprises of
three key categories:
> Casual Day Wear
> Evening Wear / Formal / After 5
> Fantasy Wear
> My Culture - Trial WA, QLD & VIC
Due to some growing interest
from previous year’s competitions regarding the
growing Multiculturalism of
our Australian Communities. Apex Australia Teenage Fashion
Awards will trial a category
titled "My Culture". This
Category has been chosen to
provide an opportunity to
teenagers from the diverse
range of cultural backgrounds
existing in Australia today,
giving entrants the chance to
showcase their heritage.
This category covers all
designs that are inspired by
cultural heritage; for e.g.
Aboriginal, Indian or Chinese.
The Awards are segmented into states/regions: WA, NSW/ACT, VIC, SA/NT, TAS and QLD. Each state holds up to five individual qualifying heats across its region. From each qualifying heat, the judging panel selects nine finalists, three finalists in each category. When all the qualifying heats are completed, the finalists then go on to compete at a State Final.
Once again, the judging panel at each State Final selects three finalists from each category, and these finalists then goes on to compete at a National level where all the states come together to compete in the National Final.
