AATFA Nationals were held for the second time at LCI Melbourne, with a new trial category "Costume & Theatrical", some amazing designs and future stars unearthed. Congratulations to all participants!
AATFA returned to the East in 2018 to an exciting new venue at LCI Melbourne, with some wonderfully creative and technically brilliant garments among the Leading Designs.
AATFA went back to its roots for the first time in 2017, with an innovative youth-based show in Mandurah, Western Australia. In what was a huge logistics exercise to bring students and volunteers from across the country to regional WA, the West delivered a wonderful tribute to AATFA and the talented youth throughout our communities.
The 11th National Final event was a spectacular culmination of this exciting youth event, with Queensland's Kiralee Welsh being awarded Designer of the Year, as well as Leading Design in both Casual Wear and Wearable Art - a mighty achievement! This year, AATFA introduced a Photography Workshop for the first time, broadening its arts-based offering to talented students looking for an amazing opportunity.
Celebrating 10 years Nationally and 5 years at the Whitehouse Institute of Design, the 2015 AATFA National Final was an exceptional event. Highlighted by the amazing standard of garments, this event continues to grow in stature and professionalism, and is now considered as an entry level opportunity for students who wish to pursue fashion design post secondary studies.
Since 2006, the judges at the AATFA National Final have named an overall winner as the Young Designer of the Year.
In addition, AATFA entrants have gone on to great success in their careers, and AATFA would like to acknowledge these past entrants as AATFA ACHIEVERS!
Photography Services at the National Final in October 2014 were kindly donated by past Launceston Apex member, Mr Ian Gabites. Ian supplied his time, talent and expertise in capturing the essence and excitement of this amazing youth experience.

After leaving home before reaching my 20th birthday, I have found home in Warsaw and then in London where I studied my second subject – Photography. I learnt Russian from the age of 10 and I also became fluent in English in 2004.
